Backgammon Game Record

Backgammon game recording was invented by Paul Magriel in the 1970s.

Roll the dice to 4 and 2 and record: 4-2

Move one piece from the eighth point to the fourth point, and then move one piece from the sixth point to the fourth point, the record is: 8/4 6/4

To attack the opponent's weak move, add an asterisk (*) after the move. Let's say, moving a piece from the thirteenth point to the seventh point and attacking the opponent's weak piece is recorded as: 13/7*

Move a piece from the thirteenth point to the seventh point, and attack the opponent's weak piece, and then move to the fifth point, the record is: 13/7*/5

Move more than one piece, and indicate the number of pieces moved after the move. For example, tossing two 2s, moving three pieces from the sixth point to the fourth point, and moving one piece from the thirteenth point to the eleventh point, the record is: 2-2 6/4(3) 13/11.

Use bar to demarcate, and off to move off the board, e.g. bar/22 17/9, 5/off 2/off.
